Sensei Yvonne Doyle has practiced karate for over 40 years and holds the grade of 5th Dan, awarded by the Kase Ha Shotokan Ryu Karate Do Academy. She is a member of the Shotokan Ryu Kase Ha International Instructors Academy and the English Shotokan Academy Technical Committee.
Yvonne started training in 1975 at Huyton Karate Club with Sensei Jimmy
O'Grady. Sensei O'Grady later moved to full contact karate and Yvonne chose to continue
with the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) and moved to train at
Liverpool Red Triangle where she attained 1st Dan.
Sensei Doyle was privileged to be allowed to train in the instructor’s class
with seniors including Sensei’s Andy Sherry, Bobby Poynton and Frank
In 1982 she became extremely ill and as a consequence was unable to
train for several months. Returning to the club was difficult because of her physical condition and she went to train with Sensei Steve Cattle.
A former member of the KUGB National Squad, Sensei Doyle has been placed in over 100 competitions including Butokokai National Kumite Champion 1993/94/95 before retiring from competition.
Applying the philosophy and the principals taught to her by Sensei Cattle, it is her intention to encourage her students to embrace Kase Ha Shotokan Karate.
