Understanding Step 4 coronovirus restrictions
We’ve now moved into Step 4 of the government’s roadmap for the easing of lockdown restrictions in England.
This means that:
- There are no set restrictions on how many people can take part in sport and physical activity, indoors and outdoors
- All forms of activities can take place without set restrictions. We advise you refer to your national governing body’s guidance where relevant
- All sports facilities can open, including ancillary facilities
- There are no indoor capacity limits, however, venues may put in place some restrictions and guidance for enclosed areas
- Organised sport participation events such as (but not limited to) races, rides and organised walks can take place outdoors with no capacity caps for participants or spectators
- Government guidance for sport and physical activity will provide advice on how to reduce transmission when you’re exercising.
We know many people will still have questions as to what Step 4 means for sport and physical activity, which is why Sport England have worked with the government to answer your frequently asked questions on their website.
Letter to ESA members
Dear ESA member,
I hope all is well and you are coping in your own way to deal with this unprecedented time we are all experiencing.
I would hope you are finding the motivation to continue your martial practice in whatever way you can. Perhaps now more than ever is the need to be creative with the methodology of training you do, in what for some will be more difficult dependent on the space you have to practice and of course training experience.
Stopping practice for whatever reason is so easy to do, so wherever possible keep in touch with your instructor who will have many years experience in coping with students who may struggle to maintain regular practice. Your instructor and indeed your karate friends will be able to offer advice on training in restricted conditions and help you to keep motivated.
Continuing self practice or indeed returning to club sessions can for many be a real problem. Please try to keep training in whatever way you can, keep motivated and eager to return, hopefully in a reasonably fit and healthy condition when such time allows.
The discipline we have as Martial Artists is on a different level to the average person.
Hopefully it won’t be too long before we can get back to some kind of normality. Until then, I wish you all the very best and if you need any help or guidance please do not hesitate to ask.
Yours,
Sensei Michaylo Fedyk 7th Dan KSKA
ESA Chairman
We are slowly preparing to return to indoor training. The ESA Executive Committee is dedicated to keeping all members safe, and we have put together safety guidelines and a template risk assessment regarding Covid-19 safety.
To all club instructors, please apply the guidelines according to the venue or facility you practice in.
